Bring education back to classic standards and change the system so that iy functions as a representative service and not a dictatorship. Return to traditional subject matter and methods resulting in a good education for our children and successfully extend our culture forward.

Observation

In some settings, parents, teachers and public are discouraged or prevented from contributing to the approval process, The entire process is limited to publishers, school personnel and hired experts. The entire process is kept internal, out of the public's view so there will not be objections and complications.

Plan

Establish a regulation that the public, by predetermined count or the school board, by a two-thirds vote, may amend any approval of a textbook, material or curriculum. The amendment must be accepted and cannot be circumvented.

While significant, this is mainly a” procedure” project. It affects procedure within the system and doesn't address any specific issues or philosophical subjects. It has the indelible effect of ensuring that the public can participate in the process.

Worthwhile Purpose – To reverse the power of approval making the citizens and parents the decision-makers and make the school board and school administrators responsible to the wants and needs of the public. This would give the public a permanent platform from which to contribute and participate in the approval process. Also provides a mechanism for citizens and parents to bypass school boards and school administrators.
