#16 - Do Something
For a lot of people, the comfortable thing to do is nothing.
It takes some effort and, sometimes, even some thinking. There are a lot of motivational comments we could make. Perhaps, the biggest motivation would be to say what might happens if you do nothing.
If you do nothing, somebody else will decide what your child or relative will study and learn. They will deliver it and teach it with the values and attitudes THEY think are desirable without the slightest regard to what you think. Said another way, if you don’t control it, somebody else will.
A lot needs to happen in education. Crazy ideas and concepts need to be guarded against and education needs to return to what we know works. Classic and traditional seem to fit the bill. The system needs to be completely reorganized, both proceduraly and philosophically. We’ve put government functions and people up on a pedestal and then do whatever they tell us to do. They’re in charge and we’re the slaves. But, actually, they work for us and are there to represent US - not tell us what they’re good by to do whether we like it or not.
The main thing: DO SOMETHING! It’s a crime to do nothing.
